Forest Fringe Winery & Café Inc. Background

The owners of G2S Pickin’ Patch Inc.; Genevieve Greif and Will Stafford, have created a companion company Forest Fringe Winery & Café Inc. The new company's wine production facility will be located on the same site as G2S Pickin’ Patch Inc. and will operate in conjunction with the existing company to utilize the fruits produced to create craft fruit wines. These unique craft wines will be served with meals in the café and sold in the boutique store along with other processed fruit products.

Mission Statement

  • To provide craft fruit wines embraced in a holistic culinary experience served in a naturalized rural landscape neighbouring Saskatchewan’s Forest Fringe.

Objectives

  • To produce, as legislated, a minimum of 5,000 litres to a maximum of 45,000 litres of fruit wine by regulation from fruit grown by G2S Pickin’ Patch Inc. on an annual basis, beginning in 2013;
  • To create a innovative country dining experience based on our farm fresh produce, open to the public seasonally from mid May to late October, beginning in 2013;
  • To utilize the core off months January to April to focus on product creation and the making of fruit preserves for the upcoming season;
  • To create and maintain an environmentally sustainable operation by continuing to improve upon the farm’s EFP (Environmental Farm Plan) and to implement Environmental Best Management Practices on an ongoing basis (annually or as required);
  • To provide safe healthy food and beverages to our customers through personal and staff training courses and upgrades related to food safety, and by developing and maintaining a product traceability system to be operational by 2013;
  • To hire a minimum of 75% of employees from the local area when qualifications meet staffing criteria whenever new or vacant positions are filled, in order to support the local economy.

Vision

  • It is our vision to construct both the winery and the café together, as each compliments the other and as a pair will enhance the visitor’s experience. The new company has been incorporated to include both aspects of the business, however due to economic realities and the diverse nature of the two entities, the winery and the café are presented here separately but under one business plan.
